The Tahquitz River, referred to as “The Wash” by locals was originally funded by Pearl & Austin McCallum around 1947, to provide flood control. While not much rain fell in Palm Springs during January 2023, runoff from mountain snows filled up the wash.
Matthew Bamberg is a Adjunct Professor at National University and freelance writer and photographer. He graduated with a Master's degree in creative arts from San Francisco State University.
